We’re working on a once in a generation opportunity to improve the Buckhurst Lane and Suffolk Way areas of Sevenoaks, helping to make the town a more exciting place to live, work and spend time.
We, and Kent County Council, own property and land in this area. Our early ideas include a new energy efficient leisure facility, a combined library and learning hub and other environmental and cultural improvements, including a new link to Knole Park a new market hall and a hotel to support the local economy.
During April 2024, we ran three information events and a survey to give the community the chance to have their say on our early ideas.
View our public engagement and survey results.
While the survey has now closed, there will be further opportunities to comment on the proposals as they develop.
On 25 July 2024, Sevenoaks District Council has approved a budget of £435,000 to progress the project. This includes setting up a project team, with external specialists, to appoint a development partner by the summer of 2025.
The development partner will produce detailed plans for the site, taking account of residents' comments.
Why are we doing this project?
There are areas and buildings near the town centre that require investment. We are working with Kent County Council to explore ways in which we can improve our public buildings.
We may be able to release some land for much needed new homes. Providing new and affordable homes would help to fund the wider improvements, including the leisure facility.
