There are three types of building control application:
- Full Plans - the most commonly used type of application. We will check that your plans meet the Building Regulations. You will pay a fee for making the application and checking the plans. You will then pay a second fee when the work starts to cover the cost of site inspections and the Completion Certificate on satisfactory completion of the work.
- Building Notice - a notice telling us that you intend to carry out small domestic building work that do not need detailed drawings. A single fee is payable when this notice is submitted to us. It is usually the same, or similar to, the combined Full Plan fee.
- Regularisation - for works carried out without the submission of a Full Plans application or a Building Notice. The fee for this is higher than the other two because there is more work for our Building Control Surveyors. You may need to open up completed building works so we can see if the building regulations have been met.
