Due to the current advice of Public Health England and the NHS, Sevenoaks District Council and the Sevenoaks Area Dementia Friendly Community (SADFC) have made the difficult decision to cancel Run, walk or push against dementia 2020.
Both Sevenoaks District Council and SADFC hope to run the event in 2021. Everyone who has signed up will receive a full refund.
With this year's event cancelled, SADFC will rely on public donations more than ever. Without the income from the event, the SADFC may have to scale back its activities including Forget-me-not cafés, dementia friendly singing groups and dementia friendly cinema screenings.
However, supporters of SADFC can still make donations and every penny makes a huge difference. Visit www.sevenoaks.gov.uk/runwalkpush to donate.
SADFC Co-Founder, Elaine Murray says “We are extremely disappointed to have to cancel race but we must follow the advice from Public Health England and the NHS. We really hope all our supporters will still get behind us and donate what they can. The money raised will go towards our cafés and groups which mean so much to people living with dementia.”
Sevenoaks District Council Chairman, Cllr John Edwards-Winser, adds: “It’s a great shame to cancel the event but the wellbeing of our residents and staff is our number one priority. We hope that people will still donate to SADFC so they can continue their amazing work.”
