Sevenoaks District Council is asking residents who use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to make sure they dispose of it responsibly.
Unfortunately, PPE gloves and masks are being discarded in public areas around the District. Throwing away PPE irresponsibly poses a risk to the public as well the Street Cleaners who have to pick up the rubbish.
Cabinet member for Cleaner and Greener, Cllr Margot McArthur, says: “We know the majority of our residents would never throw away rubbish irresponsibly, but sadly we are starting to see PPE discarded in the District. Please think of others before disposing of potentially dangerous items. Dumping used PPE is not only bad for the environment, it also puts our amazing Street Cleaners, who have worked day-in and day out throughout the crises, at risk.
“To keep everyone safe, and so our key workers can continue their vital work, please place your PPE safely in a bin or take it home with you.”
