Residents can contribute to a new cycling and walking plan to encourage greener forms of transport.
Sevenoaks District Council is working with Sustrans to produce a ‘Local Walking and Cycling Infrastructure Plan’. The plan would cover Sevenoaks, Chipstead, Riverhead, Dunton Green, Otford, Seal, Kemsing, Ide Hill and Underriver.
The plan would include new walking and cycling routes to help people move about using carbon-free forms of transport.
Using Sustrans’ online map, residents can share their views on the current barriers to cycling and walking while suggesting new routes.
Once the plan has been agreed later this year, it will form the basis for future funding bids to improve cycling and walking provision.
The survey is open until Friday 17 June 2022 at www.sevenoaks.gov.uk/walkingandcycling.
Cllr Peter Fleming, Leader of the Council, says: “We are determined to do our bit to help our communities benefit from improved air quality while working towards our ambition of a Net Zero District by 2030. We know that transport is one of the biggest contributors to carbon emissions.
“While it’s not possible to complete every journey on a bicycle or on foot, with better facilities, more of us could leave the car at home, especially for shorter journeys.
“To help us develop this new and exciting plan, we want to hear residents’ concerns, while tapping into their local knowledge about potential new routes.”
