Sevenoaks District Council has become the first local authority in Kent to sign the Federation of Small Businesses Local Leadership Pledge, strengthening support for the District’s small businesses.
The partnership is based around three pillars: to work with FSB to develop policies to support Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), to bring together residents, the community, and SMEs, and to continue or create the post of a ‘small business champion’ and single point of contact within the Council.
Signing the pledge on behalf of Sevenoaks District Council, the Leader of the Council Councillor Peter Fleming said, “We’re delighted to be the first local authority in Kent to sign FSB’s Local Leadership Pledge. We’re passionate about helping small businesses and encouraging residents to use them.
“Sevenoaks reached out to support SMEs during the pandemic and beyond and our Economic Development Team are active in the business community.”
Signing on behalf of the FSB, Kent and Medway Development Manager Tim Aker said, “We warmly congratulate Sevenoaks District Council on being the first local authority in Kent to sign our Pledge. We look forward to continuing this productive partnership with Sevenoaks District Council to support and grow small businesses in the community.”
