Hundreds raise money for dementia services

Published: Tuesday, 16th May 2023

‘Run, walk or push against dementia’ returned to Knole Park with hundreds of participants raising money for local dementia services.

Residents from all over the District and beyond joined The Sevenoaks Area Dementia Friendly Community on Sunday 14 May 2023 to take on one of the 3, 5 or 10k courses in the beautiful sunshine.

Sevenoaks District Council worked in partnership with the Sevenoaks Area Dementia Friendly Community to organise the event which saw residents running the course alongside their families, with their dogs and even pushing youngsters along in pushchairs.

Elaine Murray, who chairs the Sevenoaks Area Dementia Friendly Community says:

“I want to thank everyone who made this year’s event so special including all of our volunteers and the Council.

“Sadly, dementia is likely to affect all of us in one way or another, but the money raised by this event will help people living with the condition and their carers. Everyone who took part should be very proud of what they achieved this weekend.

“All of the money raised goes to local projects such as Forget-Me-Not cafés and a singing group. Those who took part had a great day and best of all, they have raised funds to support people living with memory issues.”
