Everyone Active has been given the green light by Sevenoaks District Council for a £160,000 project to expand and upgrade the gym at White Oak Leisure Centre, Swanley.
The exciting improvements will see additional gym stations and equipment installed, the gym flooring upgraded, including new protective flooring in the weight training area and some decor improvements.
White Oak Leisure Centre was designed to allow layout changes to the gym to accommodate increased customer demand. Just two years after opening, the gym has proved so popular, the time has come for its expansion.
Sevenoaks District Council Cabinet Member for People and Places, Cllr Lesley Dyball, says: “It’s great to be working in partnership with Everyone Active to upgrade the very popular gym. These improvements mean many more people can enjoy this fabulous facility.”
General Manager of Everyone Active, Ashley King adds: “We’re really excited to get started on the project to make our new gym even better. We hope these new facilities will be a big hit with our 4,000 members and encourage even more people to sign up to White Oak.”
The work is due to begin in mid-August and will take around two weeks to complete. The centre will remain open during this time. All of the works are being fully funded by Everyone Active.
This news follows hot on the heels that the Council has secured £612,950 to fund new solar panels at White Oak Leisure Centre, helping to cut the centre’s carbon footprint.
