Sevenoaks District Council has launched ‘The PuzzleLine’ a free and interactive adventure trail at stations along the Darent Valley rail line.
The challenge involves completing a secret mission at each station from Swanley to Sevenoaks.
To complete the missions, players must answer a series of questions designed to test their skills and knowledge as a secret agent.
While the questions are fun, some require a superior level of puzzle-solving. Others simply require a keen eye. Anyone who hits the buffers can ask for help with the answers on the PuzzleLine website.
The PuzzleLine can be completed in one or several visits to the stations. The trail is suitable for anyone aged 11 and above.
PuzzleLine is available at www.puzzleline.org.
PuzzleLine leaflets will soon be available from stations along the Darent Valley rail line and selected nearby retailers.
Answers are submitted on the PuzzleLine website.
Everyone who completes the trail can download a completion certificate and can enter a free prize draw to win one of three escape room games at TimeQuest Escape Rooms. The prize draw is open until 31 August 2025. Competition terms and conditions apply, which can be viewed on the PuzzleLine website.
Cllr Lesley Dyball, Sevenoaks District Council’s Cabinet Member for People and Places, says: “The PuzzleLine is a first for the Council and for Kent. It’s a great reason for families and friends to have a fun day out while exploring the beautiful towns and villages of the Darent Valley with their wonderful shops, pubs, restaurants and places to visit.
“Best of all it is completely free. All players need to do is buy a ticket for their rail travel.”
The Council worked with award-winning escape-room company TimeQuest and the Darent Valley Community Rail Partnership to develop the game.
PuzzleLine has been made possible with funding from the UK Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
If three or more people are taking part in the PuzzleLine, they may be able to save money with GroupSave when booking their rail tickets.
The Darent Valley Line runs between Swanley and Sevenoaks, stopping at Eynsford, Shoreham (Kent), Otford, Bat & Ball and then Sevenoaks. Thameslink operates the trains on the line. Check www.nationalrail.co.uk for tickets.
The Darent Valley Community Rail Partnership is one of 75 community rail partnerships around the UK, connecting communities with their railways, delivering social, environmental and economic benefits at the heart of community life. This involves working with railway and transport partners to put locals and sustainable travel at the heart of society. For every £1 spent on community rail initiatives, it is estimated that there is a £17.89 return on investment. More than a third of Britain’s rail network and half of its stations are involved.
