Community grants help boost local charities!

Published: Wednesday, 26th March 2025

Sevenoaks District Council will again be supporting local charity and voluntary groups by allocating £99,579 to help them continue their valuable work across the District.

The grants will support organisations that provide services to Sevenoaks District residents, particularly those in greatest need.

Funding totalling £31,039 will be made to 12 local groups who support volunteers, run community transport, help older people and people experiencing mental health problems and assist families across the District.

Amongst the organisations that will benefit from the grants are Age UK Sevenoaks and Tonbridge, West Kent Debt Advice, Domestic Abuse Volunteer Support Services (DAVSS), and Imago.

Other charities that will be benefiting will be the Sevenoaks Repair Café, who will use their funding to promote sustainability, Baby Umbrella, who wish to have five more volunteers onboard and Sevenoaks Phab Group who want to continue their weekly activities for adults with learning or physical disabilities.

A further £63,540 will be given to Citizens’ Advice across the District at Edenbridge and Westerham and North and West Kent (Sevenoaks and Swanley). In addition to this, both the Sevenoaks District Arts Council and the Sevenoaks District Sports Council will receive funding of £2,500 each.

The Council’s Cabinet Member for People and Places, Cllr Lesley Dyball says, “It’s always a pleasure to be able to help fund our local charity and volunteer-led organisations. They work so hard all year round to make sure out most vulnerable residents are looked after.

“This year’s community grants will go along way to ensuring their vital support is continued.”
